Paparazzi Address

The Paparazzi Address
I was assigned a writing assignment in my English class. We were told to rewrite Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, using his literary devices, but a different topic. I picked Twilight and the paparazzi issues surrounding the franchise. I thought it would be a good blog post. Here ya go.

Five years ago our country’s stereotypical stay-at-home mom conjured up the dream that subjected a balance between love and fantasy, proving that all love is created equal.

Now we are submerged in a world suffocated by the worldwide phenomenon. Here we gather in the dawn of the third installment. We tune in to every Entertainment Tonight and TMZ episode, hoping to catch a confirmation of the rumored couples so that we can make ‘Robsten’ and ‘Jackshley’ household names, just like the revolutionary ‘Brangelina’.

But, in a larger sense, we cannot assume, we cannot presume, we cannot fantasize – for they have a right to their own privacy. The dirty paparazzi have already quenched our thirst with photo-shopped pictures of the rumored couples. The world will continue to promote such distasteful conduct with the guilty pleasure of purchasing trashy tabloids. It is for us, the fans, to be dedicated to allow these people the chance to have a life unseen by the lens of a Kodak. It is our harmonized duty to stray away from feeding the flames of those paparazzi that – although uncontrollably fanciful – encourage the exploitation of promising young actors. We owe it to the actors, who have brought our favorite characters to life on the big screen – that their work has given us a new obsession – and that the newest Twilight installments will bring new records at the box office whether those rumored relationships are confirmed or denied.
